Revit Special Text Characters

The annotation process is undoubtedly a very important part of creating and documenting models within Revit software.  Unfortunately, there are many special text characters that are not readily available, so I thought I would provide a list of special characters that you can access and place within your Revit model.

The following list of Revit Special Text Characters can also be downloaded as a PDF file.

To get the following special text characters, hold down the ALT key on the keyboard while consecutively typing all four numbers shown.  You cannot skip typing the leading zero and have it work.

Notes:

  • Using the numeric keypad versus numbers at top of the keyboard has been known to make a difference in special characters working correctly.
  • Some numbers are duplicated as they give different results due to the fonts be utilized.

    • I tested this with a Logitech “Classic Keyboard 200” and Revit Architecture 2011. When I used the numbers at the top of the keyboard, I had difficulty getting them to work. When I used the numeric keyboard on the side of the keyboard, I was able to get the random attempted codes to work. I did not go through and try them all with this keyboard, but the font specified will also affect which codes work and how they work.
