With the new Autodesk 2012 releases being announced this week, Autodesk also announced some new suites of software. These are bundles of multiple software packages that Autodesk offers and is meant to give you a significantly better value than buying each of the packages separately. With each of the new suites, Autodesk has 3 different levels of packages available (Standard, Premium, and Ultimate) which get progressively more expensive. As the AEC industry moves more into Building Information Modeling, utilization of multiple software packages becomes more integrated into organizations and makes purchasing suites more attractive.
Since this is an AEC-related blog, I have listed the AEC-related suites that Autodesk is providing with the new 2012 version, along with the MSRP pricing that Autodesk has listed on their website. The suites are:
Autodesk Building Design Suite
- Standard – $5,495 ($11,495 value)

Autodesk seems to still be providing the AutoCAD Revit Architecture Suite, which contains AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, and Revit Architecture. That suite is priced at $5,995 for the 2011 version. The AutoCAD Revit MEP Suite and AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite (both for 2011 version) do not state that they are available for the 2012 version, but that may change.
You will need to contact your reseller or Autodesk on how things will be handled if you desire to upgrade from your previous bundle to one of the new bundles. Upgrading from an old bundle to a new bundle can involve an initial upgrade price, as well as an increased subscription price. If you are not upgrading from a previous suite package to a new suite package, you should receive your new 2012 software based upon your existing suite packages.
Note that all suite information and prices are based upon MSRP United States pricing listed on Autodesk’s website at the time of the writing of this article. It is my understanding that the yearly subscription is on top of the above listed prices.
